Cal State Bakersfield beats UMKC 77-66 behind Basile

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) Dedrick Basile scored 20 points with four 3-pointers and Cal State Bakersfield beat Missouri-Kansas City 77-66 on Thursday to sweep the season series against the Kangaroos.

The Roadrunners never trailed and led 35-27 at halftime behind Basile's 11 points.

Aly Ahmed scored six points amid a 10-3 run and the Roadrunners pulled further ahead 45-32 in the second half, but the Kangaroos gained on a 9-3 run in which Kyle Steward scored five to close within six, 52-46, with 9:54 remaining.

Justin Hollins' dunk put the Kangaroos ahead 58-48, and Damiyne Durham's 3-pointer with two minutes left extended the lead to 14. UMKC got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Jaylin Airington scored 15 points with five assists, Kevin Mays added 13 and Ahmed 11 for the Roadrunners (16-7, 6-2 Western Athletic), who beat UMKC 83-72 in Kansas City earlier this season.

Martez Harrison scored 21 points for UMKC (9-14, 2-6).
