Redskins re-sign restricted free agent S Doughty

The Washington Redskins have re-signed restricted free agent safety Reed Doughty to a one-year contract.

Wednesday's move was essentially a formality. Doughty had little choice but to sign the tendered contract after the signing period for restricted free agents ended April 15. He has already been a regular participant in offseason minicamps and workouts.

Doughty was a sixth-round pick in 2006. He has played in 45 games with 16 starts over four seasons. He returned from back surgery in 2008 to play in 15 games last year, starting nine.

The Redskins have two remaining restricted free agents who have yet to sign their tenders: linebacker Rocky McIntosh and cornerback Carlos Rogers.
