QB McCarron looks to help Bengals clinch AFC North
Quarterback AJ McCarron makes his first career start for the Cincinnati Bengals as they try to clinch the AFC North and a fifth straight postseason berth against the San Francisco 49ers.
He is filling in after Andy Dalton broke his right thumb in last week's loss to the Steelers.
But McCarron won't have a top target as tight end Tyler Eifert - with his 12 touchdowns - is out with a concussion.
Wide receiver Torrey Smith, who dealt with back spasms and a toe injury, is active for San Francisco against the Bengals. Linebacker and 49ers sacks leader Aaron Lynch is out with a concussion, while linebacker Michael Wilhoite is missing his second straight game with an injured ankle.
Seattle will be without starting strong safety Kam Chancellor against the Cleveland Browns due to a bruised tailbone. Chancellor was hurt early in last week's win over Baltimore and did not practice all week. There was a bit of hope he might be able to play after being listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report.
It's the third game Chancellor has missed this season, the previous two coming when he held out for the first two weeks of the season unhappy with his contract situation.
With Chancellor out, Seattle will start Kelcie McCray at strong safety. McCray played well last week after Chancellor was hurt.
