Report: Young to start in place of Vick
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will miss his first game of the season Sunday night against the Giants, The News Journal of Wilmington reported Friday.
Vick, who sustained two broken ribs on the second play of Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, will be replaced by Vince Young, according to the report.
Though head coach Andy Reid has held out hope publicly that Vick would heal in time for the trip to New Jersey, sources told the paper that the team has already ruled Vick out.
Young, who was 2-0 against the Giants during his time with the Tennessee Titans, has taken the snaps with the first-team offense in practice, with Vick sitting out.
Though he only missed one play during Sunday's loss, Vick appeared to be struggling with his accuracy, and completed just 16 of 34 attempts as the Eagles dropped to 3-6.
Vick has started every game this season despite taking many hard hits. He suffered a concussion in the second half of the Week 2 loss at Atlanta and was replaced by Mike Kafka.
Young, a two-time Pro Bowler with the Tennessee Titans, was out for the game in Atlanta, but is normally the Eagles' backup with Kafka serving as the third-stringer.
