Keenum remains in concussion protocol for Rams
ST. LOUIS (AP) Case Keenum remains in the concussion protocol for the St. Louis Rams, with Nick Foles getting the majority of snaps at quarterback.
Coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday night that Keenum showed improvement Monday but that he was limited in practice.
''He feels good, but he's still yet to be cleared,'' Fisher said. ''We'll just kind of see how things go tomorrow.''
Foles threw three interceptions, one of them returned for a touchdown, last week in a 31-7 loss at Cincinnati. Foles had lost his job after a number of sub-par performances but the week off didn't help the bottom line.
He's back in the same routine as last week, with the Rams (4-7) hopeful Keenum can return but realizing there has to be a backup plan.
Foles said there's a slight change in mind-set when he goes into the practice week knowing he's the guy. Foles got a two-year contract extension before taking a preseason snap but has just seven touchdown passes with nine interceptions while completing 57.9 percent of his passes.
''The one thing that's different is I'd say you get the reps and you for sure know,'' Foles said. ''There is a little difference, but you prepare every week like you are the starter. I know that's a saying a lot of us say, but you really try to do your best to prepare.''
As in most weeks, Foles said task is easy. Get better.
''I just keep working,'' he said. ''As tough as it is through these times where you just want to keep playing well, you've got to keep looking at the film, keep preparing, keep working in the weight room.''
The Rams moved practice indoors after wind picked up in mid-afternoon chill. They'll be playing indoors on Sunday against the Cardinals (9-2), who have won six of seven since losing to St. Louis in Week 4 and Fisher noted the team needed ''tempo and timing.''
Foles had his best day of the season in the first Arizona meeting, throwing for three touchdowns with no interceptions. Since then, he has thrown for two TDs with eight interceptions.
''We're confident, we believe in ourselves,'' Foles said. ''We just have to keep working. They're going to look at that film and try to do things better.''
Foles, who went to college at Arizona and said it was ''fun'' playing the Cardinals on the road.
''We need it to be loud this week,'' Foles said. ''When it's loud it disrupts the other team's quarterback and play calls and snap counts.''
Rookie offensive tackle Rob Havenstein (calf) was a full practice participant. Havenstein has missed three of the last four games.
Defensive end Robert Quinn (back) did not practice, but Fisher said he was ''coming on.'' Cornerback Trumaine Johnson (thigh) also did not practice and Fisher reiterated that Greg Zuerlein (right hip) wouldn't try to kick until Friday.
