Report: Chiefs pursuing Nick Foles

Published Feb. 23, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

As of now, the Eagles will be going into training camp with Michael Vick and Nick Foles competing for the starting job. But that may change.

The Chiefs contacted the Eagles about Foles’ availability, according to USA Today. The Eagles told the Chiefs they want to keep Foles for now. No trades can occur until the new league year starts on March 12.

New Chiefs head coach Andy Reid coached Foles in Philadelphia last season. The signal caller was the Eagles’ No. 88 overall pick in 2012. He completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 1,699 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions.

While Foles possesses some mobility in the pocket, he doesn’t have the rushing ability new head coach Chip Kelly typically looks for in a quarterback.
