Panthers haven't decided on No. 1 pick
Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney insists they haven't decided on who to take with the top pick in next week's NFL draft.
Hurney also said Thursday night he has yet to field an offer from another team wanting to trade up to No. 1.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Hurney said the process is ''ongoing'' and they won't officially set their draft board until early next week. Hurney declined to say how many players are in the mix for the top spot, but had high praise for Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
Many mock drafts suggest the Panthers will take Newton despite questions about his work ethic and character. Hurney called Newton ''highly competitive'' and said he believes ''being successful in the NFL is very important to him.''
