DePaul's Strus to declare for draft, won't hire agent

CHICAGO (AP) DePaul says star guard Max Strus intends to declare for the NBA draft, though he will remain eligible for his senior season by not hiring an agent.

Strus averaged a team-leading 16.8 points and hit 81 3-pointers - second on the program's single-season list - as a junior. The plan announced Wednesday gives him a chance to gauge NBA teams' interest. He has until June 11 to decide if he will turn pro or stay in school.

DePaul went 11-20 in its 11th straight losing season. The Blue Demons haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2004.
