Class 5A final: Houston Cy-Fair
65, Fort Bend Hightower 41

AUSTIN – Chiney Ogwumike had 31 points and 18
rebounds and Cy-Fair won its second Class 5A state championship in three years.

Ogwumike won a state championship with Cy-Fair (36-1)
in 2008, and this one was all but over after the first quarter. Ogwumike scored
eight of her team’s first 10 points and had 14 in the first quarter as Cy-Fair
raced to a 27-4 lead.

Class 3A final: Texarkana Liberty
Eylau 70, Abilene Wylie 68

Imani Wright buried an overtime 3-point shot and
added a pair of free throws to give Texarkana Liberty Eylau a 70-68 win over
Abilene Wylie in the UIL Class 3A girls basketball finals Saturday.

Trailing 64-62 in regulation, Liberty Eylau (31-8)
tied the game on a running one hander by Tia Day. In overtime, Liberty Eylau
scored the first six points and then fought off an Abilene Wylie rally to win
their first basketball title.

Wright, a freshman, finished with a team high 23
points and ten rebounds as the Leopards recovered from an early 17-8 deficit to
force the overtime.

Liberty Eylau’s Bianca Stevenson scored 20 points
and got 12 rebounds and Skylar Robertson added 18 points for the Leopards.

Peyton Little led Abilene Wylie (31-10) with 27
points and nine rebounds.
