Brewers deal Cotts to Twins
The Minnesota Twins announced late Friday night that they had traded for Milwaukee Brewers left-handed reliever Neal Cotts.
Minnesota acquired Cotts from Milwaukee for a player to be named or cash.
Cotts, 35, signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Brewers last January. In 2015, Cotts is 1-0 with a 3.28 ERA in 50 games. He's 21-24 over 10 major-league seasons, including time spent with the White Sox, Cubs and Rangers.
This season, Cotts has held opponents to a .240 average, with 17 walks and 48 strikeouts. He has limited left-handed hitters to a .185 batting average and just five extra-base hits this season.
Originally drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2001, Cotts has pitched 429 1/3 innings in his big-league career, with 411 strikeouts and 189 walks. Since 2013, he ranks 11th in baseball in appearances among lefties, with 181.
Cotts is expected to join the Twins in Baltimore on Saturday and will wear uniform No. 55.
"I knew there was a chance I could go or stay, so I kind of prepare and try not to worry about it," Cotts said.
