Ty Montgomery, Randall Cobb out for Packers against Falcons
The best solution the Green Bay Packers have had to losing both of their running backs to injuries this season has been to use wide receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb in the backfield, but that won’t be an option Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Montgomery led the Packers with nine carries for 60 yards in their Week 7 win against the Bears, and Cobb (hamstring) is Green Bay’s No. 2 receiver but also gets carries in the backfield as a changeup.
Green Bay is without starter Eddie Lacy (ankle, IR) and backup James Starks (knee), so it traded for Knile Davis and promoted Don Jackson from the practice squad before the game against the Bears. Davis had two carries for one yard, and Jackson had two carries for six yards against Chicago, and they will be the only two healthy running backs on the roster Sunday in Atlanta.
