Hillman, 24, led the Broncos in rushing last season with 863 yards and seven TDs. The team made retaining fellow free-agent running back C.J. Anderson a higher priority, and four weeks ago matched an offer sheet Anderson received from the Dolphins.
Anderson, 25, had 720 yards and five TDs in the regular season but averaged 4.7 yards to Hillman’s 4.2 and took over the lead role in the postseason. Hillman ran 32 times for 54 yards in the playoffs, while Anderson ran 54 times for 234 yards.
