Giants manager Bruce Bochy reacts to firing of Bud Black

Giants manager Bruce Bochy had kind words for the former manager of the San Diego Padres, Bud Black, who was fired on Monday. Per CSN Bay Area:

"I called Buddy," Bochy said. "I know Buddy well. We're close. I hated to hear that.”

Black actually replaced Bochy in San Diego following the 2006 season. Like Black, Bochy never led the Padres to a championship, but he did lead them to a handful of playoff appearances and an NL pennant in 1998.

Regarding interim manager Dave Roberts, Bochy called him "a really good baseball man.”
