Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day-DB Amari Carter

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:27 p.m. ET

One of the most important signings in the Miami Hurricanes 2017 class is Amari Carter. Carter, an early enrollee, looks to battle for the starting strong safety position. Carter brings the wood and is head-hunting tackler.

Miami Hurricane Sports Bio Says

High School: Four-star safety prospect by ESPN…Three-star prospect by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout…Ranked No. 239 player nationwide regardless of position in ESPN300…Ranked No. 5 on Palm Beach Big Board and Super 11 pick by Palm Beach Post…Named 2016 All-County Defensive Player of the Year by Sun Sentinel after senior season… Had 60 tackles and three interceptions during junior year at Palm Beach Gardens…Coached by Rob Freeman at Palm Beach Gardens…Chose Miami over offers from Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame, among others.

AT THE SAFETY POSITION, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE LOOK FOR IS TOUGHNESS AND TACKLING. AMARI EXCELS IN BOTH OF THOSE FACTORS.

Carter contains the potential to start this year because he is an early enrollee. Not much experience is front of him on the depth chart. As fans have seen last year, early enrollees make a significant impact due to extra practice time in the spring, a full off-season of conditioning, and a chance to learn the playbook.

Fans should very excited on what Carter brings the table. He fits the mold of the tough nose Manny Diaz defense.
