FSU Football Lands Commitment From Top Punter in 2017 Class
FSU football, already with one of the top classes in 2017, added to that group with one of the top punters in the entire country.
Several weeks ago, FSU football again made national headlines with a recruiting class that rated in the top six nationally by almost all services. Now, the Seminoles are continuing to run up the score when it comes to bringing in great players with the addition of a top special teams recruit who originally was going to the FCS level.
Tommy Martin, one of the top punters in the 2017 class by several different services including Chris Sailer Kicking and a native of the commonwealth of Virginia, has decided that he wants to walk on with the Seminoles after being previously committed to play for James Madison University, located in his home state:

Martin continues to add to the list of star players from the Chesapeake area of Virginia who have made their way down to Tallahassee – including Levonta Taylor, Josh Sweat, Derrick Nnadi and fellow 2017 commit Khalan Laborn, who was ranked as the top player from the commonwealth last season. Head coach Jimbo Fisher has made it clear that the program is going to recruit the entire nation – and it seems that Virginia is going to be a top target for years to come.
Martin’s commitment means there will be some competition next year for the 2016 starter at punter, Logan Tyler. Toward the end of the year, Tyler saw his numbers take a dip while he continued to handle kickoffs as well as field goals when Ricky Aguayo had his struggles. One has to wonder if the Seminoles bringing in another top leg means there are some changes coming…or if it’s just a matter of stocking up top talent.
