Dirk Koetter on future as head coach: Job with Bucs is 'the greatest'

Published Dec. 16, 2015 12:40 a.m. ET

When the topic of potentially becoming a head coach came up to Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, it was immediately obvious where his focus was at. First, Koetter joked about all the questions he'd have to answer, then spoke about how his current job is "the greatest in the world."

Via Zach Shapiro of Pewter Report:

“They must not have heard those questions I was getting earlier today. Can you imagine if I had to answer all the questions a head coach does, how pissed off I’d get every week,” Koetter said, drawing a big laugh. “Call up the media in Phoenix and ask them.”

“I love working with coach Smith and the offensive staff,” Koetter said. “We have a fantastic group of players – I’m excited about our long-term future. I hope our owners are as excited as I am. You don’t control that. We’re trying to do the best job we can right now.”

While almost all offensive coordinators would likely jump at the opportunity to become a head coach, Koetter never really gave an answer. While he surely does love his job in Tampa Bay, you'd have to imagine that he'd be more than a bit open to taking on a head coaching gig somewhere in the NFL.
