Steelers' Tomlin not afraid of youth movement on defense

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has no reservations about the influx of youth on his defensive depth chart.

"Young and defense are two things that I like," Tomlin told local TV station WAVY via PennLive.com in his hometown of Hampton Roads, Va. "That's not a change that you fear."

Tomlin was back home to help run a youth football camp. He also wasn't afraid to hide his fondness for local talent, or what he calls "757" players, a reference to the local area code.

"I'm not bashful about my affinity for 757 guys," Tomlin said. "I get kidded quite a bit back in Pittsburgh about my affinity for Hampton Roads guys."

Safety Shamarko Thomas of Virginia Beach is one of four Steelers from the area. Linebacker Arthur Moats, backup QB Tajh Boyd and corner B.W. Webb are the others.
