Ray Rice on second chance in NFL: I'm not ready to give up

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:50 p.m. ET

We all know why Ray Rice is no longer in the NFL. The story's been told. But the former Ravens running back is not giving up on making a comeback or getting a second chance.

"I do want to play football again and I'm not ready to give up," Rice said on the Dan Patrick Show on Thursday.

Rice was cut by the Ravens in Sept. 2014 after a video showed him punching his then-fiancee and now wife Janay in an Atlantic City casino. Since then, Rice has tried to rebuild his image to get another chance at the NFL.

But despite a whole host of unsettled running back situations due to injury and performance (see: Dallas, Seattle, Kansas City, Buffalo, New England, Pittsburgh, Houston, New Orleans, just to name a few) Rice has not been able to get a serious offer.

"I have a lot of great relationships around the league ... but the conversations are all supportive," Rice said. "Nobody's pulled the trigger. ... I'll be honest, I told (my agent) to tell (teams) to call me when it's real."

Here's a longer clip of Patrick's interview with Rice.
