Eagles lose three starters to injuries in Week 4

In Sunday's 23-20 Week 4 loss to the Washington Redskins, the Philadelphia Eagles lost more than just the football game. Three starters -- left tackle Jason Peters, linebacker Mychal Kendricks and cornerback Byron Maxwell -- all left the game early with injuries.

Peters -- the NFL's best left tackle in 2014 per Pro Football Focus -- aggravated a quad injury he originally sustained in the Eagles' Week 3 win over the New York Jets. Peters is confident that this injury won't linger, but he did not give a timetable on his return.

"I didn't want to be out there limping around, so I just took myself out just to not hurt the team," Peters said to reporters, per Zach Berman of Philly.com. "I'll be OK. Nothing long-term."

Kendricks -- the Eagles' top inside linebacker -- could not make it past the first drive of the game after his hamstring injury acted up. Rookie Jordan Hicks stepped up in Kendricks' place, but his presence was missed in pass coverage over the middle.

Maxwell -- the Eagles' top free agent acquisition -- left the game with a quadriceps injury and did not return. Rookie defensive back Eric Rowe took Maxwell's place in the starting lineup. He struggled at times and on key third down plays.
