No other way to spin it: Freeney gets first sack with Cardinals

Dwight Freeney needed only two games to give the Arizona Cardinals a return on their investment.

Signed after outside linebacker Alex Okafor suffered a calf injury in a Week 5 victory at Detroit, Freeney registered his first sack Monday night in the Cardinals' 26-18 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

"I felt like I hadn't gotten a sack in like three years, but it felt great," said the 35-year-old Freeney, who raised his career sack total to 112.5 in his 14th NFL season.

Freeney flashed the signature spin move to get to Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco on the opening possession of the second half. The seven-time Pro Bowler started on an outside rush before spinning inside left tackle Eugene Monroe and taking down Flacco for an 11-yard loss.

The sack forced a punt that gave Arizona good field position and set up a field goal by Chandler Catanzaro to built the lead to 17-10. As much as he enjoyed the sack, Freeney said it was crucial for the Cardinals to turn away a last-minute drive by Baltimore.

"That's kind of the emphasis, it's about finishing these games. The great teams do," Freeney said. "The bad teams, they mess us at the end, especially when it comes down to December. We did a real important job today."
