Cardinals' Cory Redding tripped up by last hurdle on way to end zone

Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Cory Redding looked as nimble as a 6-foot-4, 318-pounder can on his second career interception in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Redding reached out with one hand to bat an attempted screen pass to himself at Detroit's 34-yard line and rumbled down the right sideline toward the end zone. The 34-year-old Redding attempted to hurdle Lions quarterback Matt Stafford but was taken down at the 4 - and he heard about it from his teammates.

“The guys were on the field, ‘Why didn’t you score, why didn’t you make a move, spin move or something,’ ” Redding told reporters after the game. “But it was all in fun.”

It marked the first interception since December 2010 for Redding, when he was a member of the Baltimore Ravens, and came in his 181st game.

Sunday's game was a homecoming of sorts for Redding, who is in his first year with Arizona but spent his first six seasons with the Lions after they selected him in the third round of the 2003 draft.
