KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) Catcher Chris Stewart has agreed to $575,000, one-year contract with the Atlanta Braves.

The 35-year-old hit .183 in 51 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates last season. He is a seven-year major league veteran.

Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos announced the roster addition after the Braves' first spring training workout for pitchers and catchers.

Stewart will back up catchers Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki.

''He's on a big league, non-guaranteed deal,'' Anthopoulos said. ''We'll see how he looks in camp. If something happens in the next six weeks, it gives us another option.''
