Nationals 3B Rendon back from DL, batting 2nd vs. Phillies
WASHINGTON (AP) The Washington Nationals have reinstated third baseman Anthony Rendon from the 10-day disabled list and optioned infielder Adrian Sanchez to Triple-A Syracuse.
Rendon was in Saturday's lineup against the Phillies, batting second behind Bryce Harper.
Rendon missed 19 games with what the team called a contusion to his big toe after fouling a pitch off his foot on April 13.
Manager Dave Martinez said Rendon will wear protective padding over the toe.
The 27-year-old Rendon appeared in two minor league rehab games with Class A Potomac, going 5 for 8 (.625). Before his injury, he hit .286 with a home run and 4 RBIs in 14 games.
The 27-year-old Sanchez appeared in five games for Washington, hitting .214 with one RBI.
