Miller to start D-backs' Cactus League opener this weekend

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Coming off easily the worst season of his career and looking for a fresh start, Shelby Miller will start the Diamondbacks' Cactus League opener Saturday against the Rockies.

First-year manager Torey Lovullo made the announcement after the team's workout Thursday at Salt River Fields.

Fellow right-hander Archie Bradley will follow Miller, who in his first season with the D-backs had a 6.15 ERA in 20 starts wrapped around a trip to the minors last year.

Braden Shipley will start Sunday's game, also against the Rockies and also at Salt River Fields.

Lovullo didn't announce any additional starters, including staff ace Zack Greinke, who must throw live batting practice before he will be placed in the spring rotation.

"He's ready to do that," Lovullo said. "We're not exactly certain when that's going to happen. It will happen in the next couple days; we feel very comfortable saying that. …

"He's right where he wants to be."
