Doug Waechter joins Sun Sports as Rays on-air analyst
TAMPA, Fla. -- FOX's Sun Sports, the statewide television home of the Tampa Bay Rays, today announced Doug Waechter has joined its roster of Rays on-air talent for the 2015 season. Waechter will serve as an analyst on select Rays LIVE pre- and postgame shows throughout the season in his new role. A six-year Major League Baseball veteran, Waechter will provide in-depth pitching analysis from the FOX Sports studio for select Rays away games, as well as Tropicana Field for select home games.
Waechter is scheduled to make his on-air debut on Opening Day on Monday, April 6, when the Rays host the Baltimore Orioles.
A St. Petersburg, Fla. native and graduate of local Northeast High School, he tallied over 200 strikeouts through the course of his career, which included stints with the Rays, Marlins and Royals.
