Dolphins DE Jordan suspended for '15 after failing drug test
Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan has been suspended for the entire 2015 season after failing a drug test (diluted sample), FOX Sports 1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo confirmed. ESPN's Adam Schefter first broke the news on Tuesday.
Jordan, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will not appeal the ruling.
Jordan, 25, was banned four games last season for taking Adderall last season.
Jordan was penciled in to be a rotation pass-rushing option alongside defensive ends Olivier Vernon, Cameron Wake and Derrick Shelby.
Trade rumors swelled this offseason regarding a possible reunion between Jordan and his college coach Chip Kelly in Philadelphia. In fact, the Eagles discussed a trade involving a conditional late-round pick in exchange for Jordan, Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported. Even guard Evan Mathis was discussed as a possble piece to the trade, according to McLane.
Jordan has played in 26 games, racking up 46 tackles and 3.0 sacks in two season with the Dolphins.
With the year-long ban, the Dolphins could release Jordan after his suspension is over as his signing-bonus guarantees have been voided.
