Bills S Kenny Ladler: 'I can be a playmaker on the field with the best'
Buffalo Bills safety Kenny Ladler was a playmaker in college at Vanderbilt, pulling down five interceptions and forcing five fumbles in his senior season alone. Unfortunately, those numbers weren't enough to get him selected in the 2014 draft, but he was given a shot by the Bills as an undrafted free agent.
His season was cut short due to an arm injury that landed him on injured reserve in October, playing in just two games in 2014. Now, he faces long odds to make the Bills' 53-man roster this season, but he believes he can prove his worth in training camp.
"I have to display what I did in college onto the next level and show that I can be a playmaker on the field with the best talent in the world," Ladler said to the Buffalo News. "I want to show people that I’m a playmaker."
Ladler will battle a group of young, inexperienced safeties like himself in Duke Williams, Bacarri Rambo, and Jonathan Meeks, in addition to converted corner, Corey Graham. As Ladler said, he's going to have to prove he can be the playmaker he was in his senior season in order to make the team.
"I’m running to the ball -- always," Ladler said. "You never know when that ball could come out. You never know when somebody might be holding that ball loose. So I always run to the ball and never take a play off. It’s just hustling. That’s 90 percent of it -- effort.
"If I do my part and make plays, there should be no argument or excuse on why I wouldn’t be playing."
