Tulowitzki was 'blindsided' by trade to Toronto Blue Jays

Published Jul. 28, 2015 9:45 p.m. ET

You can count Troy Tulowitzki among those stunned by the trade from the Colorado Rockies to the Toronto Blue Jays.

It was late Monday night (and into Tuesday morning) that FOX Sports insider Ken Rosenthal shocked the baseball world by reporting the Tulowitzki trade to Toronto.

After having a few hours to digest the news, Tulo spoke with the Denver Post regarding his surprise:

"I felt like I got blindsided a bit. I thought I was in the loop, in the conversation. So it definitely caught me by surprise."

Rockies GM Jeff Bridich has long been rumored to seek the shortstop's approval in a trade (even though he had no no-trade clause), but said Tulo was "stunned" when they informed him of the trade:

Bridich said Tulowitzki was "stunned" to learn of the deal. "There was a lot of surprise, lot of shock, lot of questions," he said.

It was certainly a blockbuster and one that seemingly came out of nowhere.

Tulowitzki is expected to be in uniform for the Jays on Wednesday.
