Astudillo homers, but Twins fall 10-6 to Nationals

Brandon Snyder hit a grand slam in the eighth inning off Twins left-hander Lewis Thorpe to send the Nationals past the Twins 10-6.

Willians Astudillo homered and had a pair of hits for Minnesota, and newcomer Lucas Duda singled and hit his first double.

On the mound, Jake Reed gave up a two-run home run to former Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki. Kohl Stewart allowed a pair of runs on three hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings pitched and Thorpe gave up four runs, all off Snyder's grand slam.
