Gibson battles out of jam, but Twins lose 3-0 to Tigers

Kyle Gibson battled out of a third-inning jam and didn’t allow a run in three innings of work, but the Minnesota Twins lost 3-0 to Detroit on Monday afternoon.

The Tigers hit three straight singles to start off the third inning. But Gibson escaped, getting Jeimer Candelario to ground into a double play and fanning Miguel Cabrera to end the threat.

Minnesota’s offense didn’t do much to back Gibson, mustering just three hits in the loss -- a single, double and a triple.

Detroit scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning, thanks to a Grayson Greiner RBI double and JaCoby Jones two-run homer off Taylor Rogers.

The biggest highlight of the afternoon, though, was Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera pulling off a hidden-ball trick on Minnesota infielder Ehire Adrianza.

Twins infield prospect Nick Gordon mashed a triple with two outs in the eighth inning but never came around to score.
