Jets were treated like unwelcome visitors in their own home vs. Giants
The New York Jets were the beneficiaries of essentially getting an extra home game in 2015. They were the visiting team against the New York Giants on Sunday, despite playing in the same stadium as Tom Coughlin's squad.
While they were playing in their home stadium, the Jets were reportedly treated like visitors in nearly every way.
According to Page Six, Brandon Marshall wasn't allowed to park in lot where he and his teammates usually park for home games, and was forced to park in the visitors' lot. That was because the stadium staff was reportedly told to treat the Jets like "any other visiting team."
“The Jets were treated as strangers in their own home,” one stadium source told Page Six.
Additionally, Jets owner Woody Johnson's wife was turned away from entering the stadium through the VIP entrance, though she was "good-natured about it."
Those nuances didn't seem to affect the Jets, though. They were still able to eke out a win over the Giants, 23-20 in overtime. They'll return "home" as a true home team this week against the Tennessee Titans, where they should be allowed to return to their usual parking ways.
