Jury in Aaron Hernandez murder trial is sworn in after delay

FALL RIVER, Mass. — A judge has sworn in the jury hearing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.

The swearing-in happened Thursday morning after a brief delay involving jury issues. One juror was late getting to court, and another juror sent a note to the judge.

Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh instructed jurors not to talk to anyone about the case or share details of the trial with anyone.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to killing semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd in 2013. Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins.

Jenkins was sitting with Hernandez’s family in court on Thursday.

Her sister, Shaneah, sat with Lloyd’s family.

Hernandez’s former team plays in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
