Minor league outfielder repeatedly fails to throw beach ball over outfield fence
They say that baseball is the sport in which you can fail seven out of 10 times and still be considered great. Unfortunately, failing 10 out of 10 times is still very bad in baseball.
With that in mind, D.J. Wilson of the South Bend Cubs had a very bad day over the weekend. When a rogue beach ball found its way onto the outfield grass, Wilson attempted to throw it back over the center field fence. Unfortunately, the fence was high and he was throwing into the wind, so he failed. He failed ten consecutive times.
In what was either a great bit of trolling or the most convenient coincidence of all-time, "Yakety Sax" played over the stadium speakers as all of this was going on. It was perfect.
There was a happy ending, however. On his 11th try, Wilson successfully got the beach ball into the hands of a fan and got to return to his day job -- where he went 0-for-3 and struck out twice. Not his day.
