Vander Plas scores 20 to lift Ohio past Akron 73-49
Doug Taylor had 14 points and seven rebounds for Ohio (13-15, 5-11 Mid-American Conference), which broke its six-game road losing streak. Teyvion Kirk added 11 points. Jason Preston had nine rebounds for the visitors.
The Zips‘ 29.3 field goal percentage represented the worst mark by an Ohio opponent this season.

Loren Cristian Jackson, the Zips’ second leading scorer heading into the matchup at 13 points per game, was held to only 4 points. He failed to make a shot from 3-point range (0 of 5).
The Bobcats evened the season series against the Zips with the win. Akron defeated Ohio 65-53 on Feb. 2. Ohio plays Buffalo at home on Tuesday. Akron takes on Bowling Green at home on Tuesday.
