CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) Former Evansville coach Marty Simmons has joined the Clemson staff.

Tigers coach Brad Brownell also announced Wednesday the hiring of ex-Georgia player and staffer Matt Bucklin as his team's director of operations.

Simmons coached the Purple Aces for 11 seasons until being fired this past season after the team went 17-15. Simmons was 184-175 with Evansville, leading the team to three 20-win seasons and the Collegeinsider.com (CIT) championship in 2015.

Simmons will serve as an assistant to Brownell.

The coach says he and Simmons have been friends for more than a quarter century and have similar basketball philosophies.

Bucklin played at Georgia from 2008-12. Since then he's served as a graduate assistant coach and operations coordinator for the Bulldogs.
