Howard leaves game with upper-body injury

Published Feb. 19, 2013 9:39 p.m. ET

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard left Tuesday night's game against the Nashville Predators with an upper-body injury at 11:22 of the first period.

The team said that he would not return to the game.

Howard allowed two goals against Nashville, and he left less than a minute after Nashville's second goal.

He skated toward the Red Wings bench following a shot at the other end of the ice, and he was replaced by backup Jonas Gustavsson.
