Saints add cornerback Pruitt, cut kicker Scobee
METAIRIE, La. (AP) Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says New Orleans has signed cornerback Jimmy Pruitt while cutting veteran kicker Josh Scobee and waiving offensive tackle Bryan Witzmann.
Scobee, a 12-year NFL veteran out of Louisiana Tech, was signed by New Orleans in March. He was expected to compete with incumbent Saints kicker Kai Forbath.
The 6-foot, 203-pound Pruitt participated in the club's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis last week.
Pruitt is coming off a four-year-career at San Jose State, where he played in 47 games and was credited with 183 tackles, eight interceptions, 28 passes defended, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
Last season, he played in 12 games and was credited with 53 tackles, three interceptions, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
