Report: Dolphins request investigation
The Miami Dolphins have asked the NFL to review video footage allegedly showing Baltimore Ravens fullback Le’Ron McClain spitting in the face of Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder, South Florida’s Sun Sentinel reported Monday.
Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said he sent the video to league officials after determining the footage provided enough evidence to warrant an investigation.
"It's upsetting to me," Sparano said. “There are a lot of things that go on in this game from a talking standpoint, a trash talking standpoint. It's part of the game. I get it. This whole deal here about spitting in somebody's face, nowhere in this game do I see any place for that."
The incident allegedly took place as the two players stood arguing face-to-face during the third quarter of Miami’s 26-10 loss to the Ravens.
“Le’Ron McClain spit in my face,” Crowder said after the game.
“That’s some real (expletive), so if you talk to him tell him he’s a ho. If he ever comes to Miami, he’s got to see me.”
McClain denied the allegation afterward and Crowder said officials told him that they did not see the alleged incident.
“That’s the first time anybody spit in my face in my life,” Crowder added. “That’s like the worst thing you can do to a man as another man, spit in somebody’s face."
"Why would you do that? Why would you even try to? Because you’re scared, really? Because you’re scared of me?"
"So you’re going to spit real fast and walk away like he did and let your team protect you? That’s what he did."
"He’s soft. He’s soft and he spit in my face. (Expletive) him.”
