Locked on Chiefs - Chiefs smash Raiders, take AFCW lead

Kansas City took a huge step forward in the playoff field with a big win against the Raiders on Thursday night. The Chiefs now have what is essentially a game lead on the Raiders due to 2 head to head wins and they control the AFC West moving forward. If any West team ends in a tie with the Chiefs for record KC would win as they have a 4-0 divisional record.
Kansas City now gets a 10-day break before their next showdown in KC against the Titans. Unfortunately for this team that will not be enough time for Derrick Johnson to get healthy. The Chiefs ILB ruptured his Achilles against the Raiders and will be out the rest of the season. This is a huge loss for the Chiefs and for a defense that was smothering the Raiders early in the game. DJ will have the chance to come back from another ruptured Achilles but it will be a very long road. Kansas City will now have some decisions to make as it sounded like they wanted to wait for Charles to be healthy and bring him back right before the playoffs.
Kansas City now is in position to lock up home-field advantage if they win out and the Patriots lose any of their remaining games. Currently, KC is a game back but will have a better conference record if the Patriots lose any of their remaining games. A first round bye would also be big for Kansas City if they can finish the season strong.
