Bowman fights off illness, impresses Dale Jr. with career-best finish

In sports, there's always talk of 'leaving it on the line' and 'giving it your all'.

Alex Bowman did that on Sunday at Kansas Speedway in the Hollywood Casino 400.

Bowman posted his career-best Sprint Cup finish, driving the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet to seventh -- beating his former best of 10th place from three weeks ago at Chicagoland.

After the race ended, Bowman was taken to the infield care center to receive an IV for dehydration from a stomach bug.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who Bowman is filling in for, was there to support his replacement and capture the moment for Twitter.
