Stanton clobbers 463-foot homer

Published Sep. 19, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

As expected, the Marlins have been terrible this season. But two players have saved them from outright, Astros-like embarrassment: Jose Fernandez and Giancarlo Stanton.

Stanton was up to his usual tricks in Wednesday night's 4-3 win in Philly, tying the game in the sixth inning with a mammoth home run that landed on top of the Planet Hoagie concession stand beyond the center field bleachers.

The homer, Stanton’s longest of the season, traveled 463 feet — 25 feet farther than the infamous “break-the-scoreboard” blast the slugger launched in May 2012.
