Penn State OKs some alcohol sales at games
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) Penn State's board of trustees has approved allowing some fans to buy alcohol at the university's football and basketball stadiums, as well as other athletic facilities.
The proposal passed nearly unanimously Friday.
Sales would be limited to private and controlled areas, including suites and club seats. Beer and wine could be sold to all patrons of legal age at non-collegiate sports events. Officials say there would be limits on the number of drinks patrons can have.
The university would have to obtain a liquor license.
Trustee Betsy Huber opposed the move, telling the Philadelphia Inquirer it sends the wrong message to students, that adults need alcohol to enjoy themselves.
Some alcohol sale proceeds would go to student affairs for alcohol awareness.
