Chartouny leads Fordham to its 1,500 victory

NEW YORK (AP) Joseph Chartouny had 17 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals in leading Fordham to its 1,500th win in school history, 73-62 over Rider on Wednesday.

Chartourny scored eight points in the first half and Chris Sengfelder 10 of his 17 in the first half which ended with the Rams leading 42-27. Javontae Hawkins had 12 points and six rebounds for Fordham (5-1), which won its fifth consecutive game, all at home.

Rider's Kahlil Thomas, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's field-goal percentage leader last season as a junior at 56.5 percent, was 10 of 14 with 21 points and 14 rebounds for his 14th career double-double. He is shooting 63.4 percent this season. Jimmie Taylor added 19 points and Xavier Lundy 10 for the Broncs (2-2), who committed 19 turnovers.

The Broncs were within six with under a minute left but the Rams then made 7 of 10 free throws.

Rider and Fordham met for the first time since Dec. 7, 1948.
