Lionel Messi sent the cutest birthday video message to Francesco Totti

Francesco Totti turned the big 4-0 on Tuesday, and for his birthday the AS Roma lifer received a special video greeting from one of his biggest fans: Lionel Messi.

“Hello Francesco, I want to wish you a very happy birthday,” Messi says. “I hope you have a wonderful day. I’ve always admired you, and even more so on the day I met you. Big hug!”

Totti and Messi have never played on the pitch at the same time, though the teams did meet three times last season in a summer friendly and the Champions League group stage. But the two legends were clearly able to exchange a few pleasantries after the games.

Totti, who still seems to be aging like fine Italian Chianti, scored in his first Serie A appearance of the season two weeks ago – a match-winner, no less -- and once again on Sunday at Torino, giving him 250 league goals in his incredible career. Il Gladiatore has now scored at least one goal in the last 23 of his 25 Serie A seasons with Roma.

That kind of longevity is literally insane. Let’s see if Messi can keep his game up for 11 more years.
