Ashley Cole says he still laughs 'to this day' about Arsenal's lack of success

LA Galaxy defender Ashley Cole says he has no regrets over his departure from Arsenal, and says he still laughs about their lack of success to this day.

Appearing on an ITV panel show, Cole told presenter Holly Willoughby: "Regret leaving Arsenal? No. I had a great time there.

"I missed the old players that were there but I moved on and won every trophy I could. I wouldn't look back and say I regretted it, no."

Arsenal fan and comedian Romesh Ranganathan asked Cole whether he still laughs to himself from Arsenal's lack of success since his departure, and Cole chuckled, saying: "If I'm honest, yeah - I still think to this day.

"I laugh to myself. I had a lot of history there and I think the way I left was maybe a bit dodgy but the lack of respect they showed me as well."

Cole spent six years at Arsenal, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners before controversially signing for Chelsea for £5 million plus William Gallas in 2006. He stayed at Chelsea for eight years, winning another Premier League title, four FA Cups, a Champions League, and a number of other minor trophies before leaving for Italy and finally landing in Los Angeles.

It's been 11 years since Cole left Arsenal, but it looks like the schadenfreude is still in full force.
