TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State pitcher Tyler Holton will miss the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury.

The junior left-hander will undergo Tommy John Surgery on Thursday. He felt muscle tightness during the Seminoles' Feb. 16 opener against Xavier and left during the fifth inning. He allowed just one hit in 4 2/3 innings.

Holton was a first-team All-America selection last season. He posted a 10-3 record and 144 strikeouts as the Seminoles advanced to the College World Series.

Florida State (4-0) is ranked third going into a three-game weekend series against Troy. Coach Mike Martin is 28 wins away from passing Audie Garrido (1,975 victories) to become college baseball's winningest manager.
