Watch Brady Skjei take a skate to the face from Rangers teammate

New York Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei was involved in a pretty scary incident on Tuesday night when he took a teammate's skate to the face. As the Rangers hosted the Blackhawks, Skjei caught the blade of a skate from falling teammate Kevin Hayes  right around the chin area.

The 22-year-old defenseman was understandably startled by the close shave, and he headed to the bench immediately for repairs. Luckily, Hayes' blade appeared to just clip Skjei's face and, as a result, the damage was somewhat limited.

Here's a pretty incredible photo of the incident:

Thankfully, Skjei was able to return to the game with a full face shield after getting patched up.

Considering the significant damage we've seen plays like this inflict in years past, plus how close Hayes' skate was to Skjei's neck, I'd say it's very, very fortunate this didn't end worse.
