Oregon Football: Offensive Coaching Staff Taking Shape

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:43 p.m. ET

Oregon Football is starting to see a Coaching Staff come together, but some of the known names are not included.

The Oregon Ducks Football team started a new era under Willie Taggart and it is starting to appear that the former coaching staff may not be a part of his plans. On Sunday, it was reported that the new Oregon Head Coach was putting together his Offensive Coaching Staff.

Jimmie Dougherty will come from Michigan to Oregon and be named Wide Receivers Coach according to Comcast Sportsnet Northwest. It appears the Jim Harbaugh connection continues as Taggart is snagging a Coach from Harbaugh’s back yard. Dougherty has extensive experience on Offense over the last 10 years. Dougherty was formerly an Offensive Analyst with the Wolverines.

Dougherty previously served as the assistant head coach / passing game coordinator / receivers coach at San Jose State prior to coming to Ann Arbor. Dougherty and Harbaugh previously worked together at the University of San Diego where he coached the receivers in 2004, the tight ends in 2005, and the quarterbacks in 2006.

David Yost and Matt Lubick were keys to the Oregon Ducks Offense under Mark Helfrich. There is no word on if any of the former coaches’ staff is being retained by Willie Taggart. Taggart has spoken about the type of staff he wants. A big piece is no egos, and a staff that will inspire to be better everyday.

Oregon Football Head Coach Willie Taggart has hit the ground running with his new position at Oregon keying in on players who will fit his style of play and landing 4-Star Cornerback Thomas Graham last week along with multiple offers throughout the country since he was named Head Coach.

Taggart has over $4 million dollars to pay his new Assistants and hired Jim Leavitt away from Colorado last week as his Defensive Coordinator for a team that gave up over 41 points per game in 2016.
