Lovett leads Princeton past Columbia 45-10

NEW YORK (AP) — John Lovett threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores, helping Princeton beat Columbia 45-10 on Friday night to open Ivy League play.

Lovett reached the 100-yard rushing mark on a 38-yard sneak in the second quarter. He scored later in the drive to extend Princeton's lead to 20-10. Columbia turned it over on its next drive, with TJ Floyd intercepting a tipped pass, and Princeton added another touchdown on Stephen Carlson's 6-yard grab.

The Tigers led 30-10 at halftime, and Collin Eaddy ran for a 66-yard touchdown on the second play of the second half.

Lovett was 12-of-22 passing for 135 yards and added 174 yards on the ground for Princeton (3-0), which owns a 71-16-1 edge in the series. Carlson had 86 yards receiving and two touchdowns, and Floyd intercepted two passes.

Dillon Davis threw for 112 yards with two interceptions for Columbia (2-1), which had won 11 of its last 13 games.

Will Allen returned the opening kickoff 91 yards before being tripped at the 7, but Columbia was forced into a short field goal. Princeton answered with Carlson's touchdown grab from 37 yards out.
