Texas State holds off Coastal Carolina 65-61

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Alex Peacock scored 13 points and Texas State held off a late rally to beat Coastal Carolina 65-61 on Thursday night.

Eric Terry, who finished with 10 points, hit a jumper to give Texas State a 64-61 lead with 11 seconds left and Tre'larenz Nottingham split a pair of free throws with two seconds left to cap the scoring.

The Bobcats (13-3, 2-1 Sun Belt Conference) led by as much as 10 early in the entire second half and never relinquished the lead. But the Chanticleers (7-8, 1-2) used an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 62-61 on Tommy Burton's pair of free throws with 38 seconds left.

Nijal Pearson added 12 points for Texas State, which won its third in the last four games.

Zac Cuthbertson led Coastal with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Burton added 14 points.
